This hurricane is known as one of the most terrible of the history of the U.S, not only for the killing rate , which was 1.836 people approximately , but for the quantity of money , known too as the most expensive disaster in the U.S. with a record of 75 millions of dollars. The most severe loss of life and property damage occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana.
At the beginning it started as a hurricane level one (according to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale, which classify the tropical cyclones or tropical storms that becomes hurricanes) in the Bahamas, the 24 of august of 2005 ,touching land in Florida causing floods, lost of electricity for more than a million of houses, and a rate of eleven deads. But it was getting stronger during its stay in the gulf of Mexico, becoming a hurricane level five now known as the fourth strongest storm in the Atlantic with winds of 280 km/h., And the deadliest hurricane since the 1982 Okeenchobee Huricane ,which in September of the 1982 struck the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and Florida, killing at least 4,078 people.
It touched land once more the 29 of august of 2005 in Louisiana as a very big hurricane, this time as a level three with winds of 205km/h.
The secuence of the pass of the hurricane was:
The 23 of august, of august it is discovered a tropical depression.
The 24 of august, the depression gets stronger and it`s known as the tropical "storm Katrina."
The 25 of august, touch land in Florida as a hurricane level one, causing large damages.
The 26-28 of august take strength and gets bigger.
The 29 of august, touched land in Florida as Hurricane Level four.
30 of august, pass for Kentucky letting some counties declared a zone of disaster letting New Orleans in an 80% .
The 31 of august, there are some inundations in the north east of U.S and winds with rain in Canada.
The 1st of September, there are some rests of the hurricane at the north of Canada being totally disintegrated.
